The Port
The New Madrid County Port Authority was organized in 1978 by the Circuit Court of New Madrid County and falls under the guidelines of the State Statutes for Port Authorities.
In 1998 Phase I of the harbor widening project took place with Phase II following in July-August of 2002. The harbor was widened from 150
feet to 225 feet along its entire 1500 foot length. This
has allowed for tenants' barge loading/unloading on the north and south sections of the harbor while
still allowing barge traffic to move in and out of the harbor.
